Nights on Mars

Nights on Mars are cold, so we fill them with things

cultureunseen:

Charda Gregory abducted, humiliated, violated, restrained, scalped and tortured.
If this were reversed, with black police officers who were sworn to uphold peace and justice but instead were documented victimizing a white woman (who was already a victim), this news would have trumped the Olympics!

Truncated version: drugged at a party, abducted to a motel, wakes up during unwanted sexual violation in a motel room full of strangers, fights like hell to escape, motel employee calls the authorities, she gets arrested for destroying motel property and it just gets worst from there.

Every officer who participated in it and even those who witnessed it and did nothing should be punished but instead they just fired the woman?
No rape kit, no police report on the people inside the motel room, no investigation of her claims, no accountability for missing motel entry records, no video from the motel but she gets detained for fourteen days?

(Btw, when did your tax dollars begin purchasing Abu Ghraib type water boarding chairs?)

I hate it when men make unsolicited comments about a woman’s body. Like “she’s got a nice shape but she needs to tighten up her stomach”

How about you tighten up your lips and never speak again you ignorant shit.

Wow maybe you need to accept constructive criticism jesus christ.

Men telling me (or any other woman) what I need to do for them to find me sexually attractive is not constructive criticism.

One time, we got a big prosciutto ham that was sent to my mother by a cousin in Lecara Friddi. We got all excited because it was the first package that ever come from home. My old man got out a hammer and opened up the crate, and there was a beautiful ham all wrapped up in burlap. We was ready to attack it right then, but mother said no, a prosciutto ham has to be hung up for a while so that the air could get at it and it wouldn’t be too soft.

The next day, a guy named Moliari knocked at our door after dinner. It was Tuesday, and he came to collect his dollar. He was a moneylender, the fat bastard, and he specialized in Sicilians. I think my old man had borrowed some money to buy a new bed for my sisters and he was about three or four weeks behind in payments. So Moliari come up with two guys to take back the bed. When he got a look at the prosciutto ham hangin’ in the kitchen, the son of a bitch took it like it belonged to him. When he go to the door, he said to my mother somethin’ like, ‘I’ll take this; you don’t want your girls to sleep on the floor.’ But I fixed that shitheel good. About two months later, we knocked off his apartment and we grabbed over four hindered dollars. That was most expensive prosciutto the son of a bitch ever stole.”

Bianca Luini :Where I See Fashion

There are those who search at length for inspiration, be it for a writing piece, sculpture, or fashion, but then there are artists who look no further than what is right in front of them, finding beauty in everyday objects, colours, and shapes. This week we are highlighting the wonderful blog WISP –– Where I See Fashion by Bianca Luini for her wonderful imagery and abstract view of clothing. The blog curator showcases clothing alongside art pieces with corresponding elements of colour, shape, and layout, with even a single image triggering the creative process for designers, which develops into a whole line of clothing or textile designs.

So each year between semesters i tend to do one job. This year i didn’t do shit but for a few.acting gigs. So…last year was so called waitress, this year is so called actress, next year actual job maybe that would pay the rent? Please?!

Plague doctors were individuals in the Middle Ages who were given the task of tending to people infected with the plague. In most cases, they were either second rate or under-trained physicians, incapable of maintaining their own practice. Many were not doctors at all, but people of various other employments paid by towns to cater to the sick.

Plague doctors were employed in various methods whenever plague set in. The earliest documentation of these individuals being hired go as far back as the mid 500s AD. The plague doctor image that we as a general public are familiar with was not seen until the 1600s. It was then that the “traditional” plague doctor costume was created. The costume consisted of a cloak made of heavy fabric covered in wax to protect the doctor’s body, and a mask to keep out the sick air. The masks had a long cone shaped structure at the nose, to be filled with scents that would protect the doctor from the bad air.

Because of the nature of their work, plague doctors often became victims of the plague themselves, or were quarantined for the protection of the public.
